Privacy Policy

1. Purpose

The Missional Waypoint Tool, provided by Divine Renovation Ministry, is committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring the security of the data you provide. This Privacy Policy outlines how we collect, use, and protect your personal information when you use our survey tool, website and other services (“Services”). By using the Missional Waypoint Tool, you agree to the terms outlined in this policy and the accompanying Terms of Service. 

References to Divine Renovation in this privacy notice include each of the following entities:

Personal Information shall include personal information as such term is defined in the (i) Personal Information Protection Electronic Documents Act; (ii) Privacy Act of 1988 (Australia); (iii) the Privacy Act (New Zealand) and (iv) personal data as that term is defined in the General Data Protection Regulation (EU 2016/679), and/or the UK GDPR which is the General Data Protection Regulation as implemented into the law of the United Kingdom (“UKGDPR”); provided that for the purposes of this Policy, Personal Information shall not include Information about Divine Renovation employees in such employees’ capacity as employees of Divine Renovation.  

Note that in this Data Privacy Notice, references to the GDPR are to the General Data Protection Regulation (EU 2016/ 679) and/or the UKGDPR as applicable.  

It is the policy of Divine Renovation to keep any information gathered through the use of our systems secure. As such, your information is not disclosed or shared to unauthorized third parties except as allowed by Canadian law or the relevant laws of your jurisdiction. 

2. Data Collection and Use

a. Survey Data

• Anonymization: All survey data concerning parishes is anonymized to ensure that personal identifiers are removed or masked, preventing individuals from being identified directly or indirectly. 

• Access:  Aggregated data is available to Divine Renovation, the leadership of the specific parish from which the data was collected, and certain partners that are granted access for research purposes for the uses that are outlined in 4. Data Sharing and Disclosure. 

• Collected survey data will be used to enhance the Services provided by Divine Renovation and to support any additional Services a parish may engage with. 

b. Email Data

• Purpose: We collect and use email addresses to facilitate access to survey results and to communicate with users for administrative purposes related to the operation of the Missional Waypoint Tool. 

• We will not use the personal information you give us for marketing purposes beyond relevant information about the survey tool. You may expressly sign up for Divine Renovation communications and agree to the Divine Renovation Privacy Policy (https://divinerenovation.org/privacy/) should you wish to. That consent is separate and not a requisite for the use of the Missional Waypoint Tool and its supporting Services. 

• Service Providers: Email data is managed by Active Campaign (https://www.activecampaign.com/) and is used solely for the administration and delivery of our Services. 

c. Usage Information

In addition to Personal Information, Divine Renovation may collect usage information from users of the tool. The purpose of this collection is to understand how individuals access and use our Services, analyze trends, to administer, and/or to troubleshoot, enhance, and improve Divine Renovation’s Services.  

• Usage information and data could include but is not limited to your device type, device identifier, IP address, browser type, operating system, duration of use, number of messages sent or received, and times at which the application was accessed and used. 

3. Data Hosting and Storage

Service Providers:  

• Survey data is hosted by Bleat (https://www.bleat.church/), using Amazon Web Services (AWS) located in the United States. 

• Email data is held by Active Campaign (https://www.activecampaign.com/). 

• Aggregate data might be separately stored or processed using other services such as Salesforce, Tableau and M365 for the purposes of analysis, performance monitoring and testing.  

 

Data Security: Divine Renovation and its data processors employ industry-standard security measures to protect the data hosted by our service providers. However, users should be aware that no data transmission or storage system can be guaranteed as 100% secure. 

4. Data Sharing and Disclosure

Divine Renovation: Aggregate data, which does not include personal identifiers, is shared within Divine Renovation for the purposes of improving its Services and understanding trends across parishes. 

Research and Partner Organizations: Aggregate, anonymized data may be shared with partner organizations for research purposes. These partnerships are governed by data transfer agreements that ensure compliance with applicable privacy laws, including the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Data transfers are reserved for research purposes. 

Third-Party Service Providers: Divine Renovation may share data with third-party service providers (“third parties“) who perform services for us or on our behalf and who require access to such information to do that work. We have contracts in place with our third parties, which are designed to help safeguard personal information. This means that they will use your personal information only to provide the specific services they are contracted to perform. Third parties will not share your personal information with other organizations. Third-party services also commit to protect the data they hold on our behalf and to retain it for the period we instruct. 

The categories of third parties with whom we may share personal information are as follows: 

• Cloud Computing Services; 

• Communication and Collaboration Tools; 

• Data Analytics Services; 

• Data Storage Service Providers; 

• Performance Monitoring Tools; 

• Testing Tools. 

5. Governing Law and Your Rights

This privacy policy shall in all respects be governed by and interpreted, construed, and enforced in accordance with the laws of Canada, and, when applicable, the laws of your residence, including the GDPR, Australia’s Privacy Act (residents of Australia) and New Zealand’s Privacy Act (residents of New Zealand).  

Divine Renovation strives to make all its Services compliant with the GDPR. Divine Renovation reminds EU and UK residents of their rights. These include the right:  

• to access your Personal Information as retained by Divine Renovation, with some exceptions as detailed within the GDPR. For security purposes, Divine Renovation reserves the right to authenticate your identity before processing; 

• to request inaccurate Information be corrected, and to enforce your right to be forgotten when applicable;  

• to lodge a complaint with the appropriate privacy supervisory authority if an investigation by Divine Renovation into the matter proves unsatisfactory;  

• to request Information be erased. This may depend on legislation requirements; 

• to request restrictions on data processing;  

• to request to port or transfer personal data (data portability) to another party in an easy, commonly used format;  

• to withdraw consent of Divine Renovation use of Personal Information.  

6. Data Retention

We retain your personal data only for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes for which it was collected, including the purposes of complying with legal, accounting or reporting requirements. 

7. Cookies

Our website may use “cookies” to enhance the user experience. Web cookies are very small text files that are stored on your computer from a webpage to keep track of information about your browsing on that site. The use of cookies allows us to capture standard web traffic information, such as the time and date you visited our website, your IP address, and your browser information. 8. Google Analytics

9. Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, legal requirements, or other factors. Any updates will be posted on this page, and we will notify users of significant changes via email or through the Missional Waypoint Tool platform. 

10. Contacting Divine Renovation

Divine Renovation has appointed a Designated Privacy Contact who acts as Chief Privacy and Security Officer (CPSO) responsible for information system monitoring and information security policy and procedure management. You may contact our CPSO to make inquiries on our privacy practices or the accuracy of their personally identifiable Information and request the update, correction or deletion of such Information or account should you wish to do so.
